11 day Culture & History Tour in Ghana
	An 11 day tour of Ghana, visiting Accra, highland villages, the Volta River, waterfalls, markets, beaches, a monkey sanctuary, Kumasi, the former slave castle at Elmina, and Africa's highest rain forest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park. 	Arrival	Meet your arriving flight at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
	Day 1	Safe transport to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
	Accra	Refresh and relax. Neighborhood or Accra city orientation as time permits.
		Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Tesano.
		Accra City Tour
		Meet your guide at 8:30 AM and depart on guided tour of Accra.
	Day 2	Visit to Kwame Nkrumah Monument, Independence Square, Makola Market,
	Accra	historic Jamestown, W.E.B. Du Bois Center, fashionable Oxford Street in Osu.
		Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Tesano.
		Aburi Gardens, Craft Market, Handmade Glass Beads, Highland Village
		Depart for Aburi Botanical Gardens and Aburi craft market (bicycles for extra fee).
	Day 3	Stop at a bead workshop near the Volta River to learn about this beautiful handcraft.
	Amedzofe	Enjoy the ride to as you travel to the scenic mountain village of Amedzofe.
	4 hours	Overnight at a hillside budget guesthouse in Amedzofe.
		Mt. Gemi, Monkey Sanctuary, Wli Falls, Volta River
		Morning hike in the cool mist to the summit of Mt. Gemi or a nearby waterfalls.
	Day 4	Depart for monkey sanctuary at Tafi Atome for fun with habituated Mona monkeys.
	Atimpoku	Further into the Volta Region for a 45 minute hike to Ghana's highest waterfalls.
	5½ hours	Overnight at a budget chalet on the banks of the Volta River.
		Volta River Day
		Relaxed day at the Volta River. Enjoy a tranquil morning ride in a dugout canoe
	Day 5	or, for an extra fee, motorboat from the Adomi bridge to the Akosombo dam.
	Atimpoku	Riverside waterpark, walk across the Adomi Bridge or visit a banana plantation.
		Overnight at a budget chalet on the banks of the Volta River.
		Akaa Falls, Butterfly Sanctuary, Traditional Ashanti Shrine House
		Scenic drive to Akaa Falls. 250 concrete steps to the bottom of the falls.
	Day 6	Hike at the Bobiri forest reserve and butterfly sanctuary (best from Mar to Jun).
	Ejisu	Visit one of the last Ashanti traditional buildings, the Yaw Tano at Besease.
	4 hours	Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Ejisu.
		Ashanti Craft Villages, Healing Shrine, Cocoa Farm
		Visit traditional craft villages around Kumasi showcasing Kente cloth weaving,
	Day 7	Adinkra cloth stamping and wood carving. Visit a healing shrine and a cocoa farm.
	Ejisu	The Diaspora may have a traditional cleansing and naming ceremony (extra fee).
		Overnight at a mid-range hotel in Ejisu.
		Slave Cemetery, Cape Coast Castle, Beach
		Follow the slave trail to the coast, stopping at a former slave market and cemetery.
	Day 8	Tour the World Heritage site and former slave dungeon of Cape Coast castle.
	Elmina	Those of the Diaspora may have a "Door of Return" ceremony at the castle (extra fee).
	4½ hours	Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
		Kakum National Park, Crocodiles, Central Elmina, Culture Performance
		Morning visit to the rain forest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park.
	Day 9	Visit nearby crocodile ponds. Visit central Elmina to see the busy fishing lagoon
	Elmina	and take the grand walkway to hilltop Ft. San Jago. Special cultural performance.
		Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
		Beach Morning, Ft. Amsterdam, Kokrobite Beach Village
		Beach morning before departing east to Abandze beach below Ft. Amsterdam.
	Day 10	Continue to Kokrobite beach. Food, music, crafts, live music on weekends.
	Kokrobite	Arrive before dark to have a night of reflection by the beach.
	3 hours	Overnight at a 3 star beach resort in Kokrobite.
		Family Compound, Traditional Blessing, Drop-off
	Departure	Enjoy the pool and beach before departing to Accra.
	Day 11	Spend some time socializing in an unplanned neighborhood to see our life.
		Visit a typical family compound home. Traditional blessing for safe journey.
		Safe delivery to airport 2 hours before your evening flight.
