10 day Forts & Castles Tour in Ghana
	A 10 day tour visiting 19 Colonial-era forts along the coast of Ghana and inland at Kumasi. Includes some time to visit scenic beaches and fishing villages, bustling Kumasi, traditional villages and shrines, and the unique stilt village of Nzulezu built above the waters of Amansuri Lagoon.

	Arrival	Meet your arriving flight at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
	Day 1	Safe transport to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
	Accra	Refresh and relax. Neighborhood or Accra city orientation as time permits.
		Overnight at an high-rise hotel in Osu.
		Forts of Accra
		Travel along High Street, starting in Jamestown with Fort James and Ussher Fort.
	Day 2	Memorial to our first President, Kwame Nkrumah, and also Independence Square.
	Accra	See Christiansburg Fort from Osu beach, walk on fashionable Oxford Street in Osu.
		Overnight at an high-rise hotel in Osu.
		Fort Patience, Fort Amsterdam, Fort William
		Early morning departure to the fishing village of Apam to visit Fort Patience.
	Day 3	Visit Fort Amsterdam in Salt pond as well as an elaborate Posuban shrine.
	Elmina	Onward to the fishing village of Anomabo - tour the old town, Fort William.
	3½ hours	Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
		Cape Coast Castle, Fort Victoria, Fort William, Elmina Castle, Fort San Jago
		Morning tour of the former slave dungeon at Cape Coast castle. Hike to Fort Victoria.
	Day 4	Quickly visit the hilltop Fort William in Cape Coast before departing to Elmina.
	Elmina	St. George's Castle, also known as Elmina Castle, and the hilltop Fort San Jago.
		Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.
		Fort St. Sebastian, Fort Orange, Fort Metal Cross, Fort Batenstein
		Depart for Shama to visit Fort St Sebastian. Continue to Fort Orange in Sekondi.
	Day 5	Hike along beautiful Busua beach to Fort Metal Cross in Dixcove (or directly drive).
	Busua	Travel to nearby Butre to explore the ruins of Fort Batenstein.
	2½ hours	Overnight at an ocean-facing room at 3-star beach resort.
		Fort Gross Freidrichsburg, Fort San Antonio
		Drive to Fort Gross Freidrichsburg in Princes Town, Ghana's only German fort.
	Day 6	Continue to Fort San Antonio in Axim, one of the oldest forts on Ghana.
	Axim	Finally, some relaxation time at one of Ghana's most beautiful beaches.
		Overnight at a mid-range resort at Axim.
		Nzulezu Stilt Village, Fort Apollonia
		Morning depart for the beach village of Beyin, near the western border of Ghana.
	Day 7	Canoe ride through the Amansuri wetlands to the stilt village of Nzulezu.
	Axim	Enjoy the beach at Beyin and tour Fort Apollonia, Ghana's westernmost fort.
	2 hours	Overnight at a mid-range resort at Axim.
		Kumasi Military Museum, Kumasi Fort (or return to Accra by flight or vehicle)
		Early morning walk along the beach to watch the morning catch.
	Day 8	Departure for Kumasi, passing through a number of gold mining towns along the way.
	Kumasi	Afternoon visit to the Armed Forces Museum, site of Ghana's only inland fort.
	6¾ hours	Overnight at an upscale hotel in central Kumasi.
		Ashanti Craft Villages, Healing Shrine, Cocoa Farm
		Visit traditional craft villages around Kumasi showcasing Kente cloth weaving,
	Day 9	Adinkra cloth stamping and wood carving. Visit a healing shrine and a cocoa farm.
	Kumasi	Those of the Diaspora may have a traditional cleansing and naming ceremony.
		Overnight at an upscale hotel in central Kumasi.
		Ashanti Shrine, Craft Shopping Unplanned Community, Departure
	Departure	Depart for Accra, stopping at one of the last traditional Asante homes at Besease.
	Day 10	As time allows, visit the Aburi carving market or a craft market in Accra.
		Enjoy some time socializing in an unplanned neighborhood to see our life.
