The most visited area in Ghana is along the coast west of Accra. This coastal area has a number of attractions, including the largest concentration of colonial-era forts and castles anywhere in West Africa, wildlife preserves, and Posuban shrines in many of the fishing villages. But it is the stunning beaches that are the major attraction in this area. |

| 2-4 days | The most popular excursion out of Accra is to the former slave castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, and the rainforest canopy walkway at nearby Kakum National Park. You can also visit a couple of the coastal villages between Accra and Cape Coast to visit beaches, other forts, or just to explore. Posuban shrines are in many of the villages along this route, most extravagantly at
Anomabu and Mankessim. |

| 4-6 days | This allows you to continue further west, past Cape Coast. There are a number of truly outstanding beaches and beach resorts past Takoradi. Hovering above a lagoon, the stilt village of Nzulezu can be visited on this tour. Nature and bird lovers will want to visit a marine turtle preservation or the Ankasa wildlife preserve, home of Ghana's greatest concentration of biodiversity. |
 | 7 days or more | This gives you time to truly relax while visiting some of Ghana's finest beaches. |
